Dr. Habibun Nabi
Board member
Dr. Habibun Nabi is a distinguished Veterinarian and researcher, recognized globally for his contributions to zoonotic disease studies, particularly in the field of Toxoplasmosis. His research emphasizes innovative approaches to combating parasitic infections, leveraging advanced biotechnology and nano-pharmaceutics to address pressing public health challenges.
One of Dr. Nabi's most notable achievements is his leadership of a ground-breaking project funded by Grand Challenges Canada. This initiative focused on the development of a multi-protein subunit vaccine for Toxoplasmosis, uniquely formulated for intranasal delivery using nanoparticles. This pioneering approach not only enhances vaccine efficacy but also offers a non-invasive and patient-friendly alternative to traditional vaccination methods.
Dr. Nabi has an impressive academic record, with 24 peer-reviewed publications and two authored books that underscore his expertise in high-efficacy vaccine strategies and parasitology. His work has advanced the understanding of nanoparticle-based delivery systems and their potential to revolutionize preventative medicine.
An active member of the International Society of Parasitology and the Biological Safety Association, Dr. Nabi is deeply engaged with the global scientific community. His membership in these prestigious organizations reflects his commitment to maintaining the highest standards of research and biological safety. Through his innovative contributions and collaborative efforts, Dr. Nabi continues to shape the future of zoonotic disease research and vaccine development.

Dr. Irshad Ali
Board member
Dr. Irshad Ali earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from McGill University. Following his doctoral studies, he served as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Chemical Engineering at McGill University, working in the esteemed laboratory of Prof. Sasha Omanovic. His early postdoctoral research laid the foundation for his expertise in process engineering and advanced research methodologies.
After his tenure at McGill, Dr. Ali transitioned to industry, joining M’Plast Inc. in Lachine, QC, as a Process and R&D Engineer. His role involved innovative problem-solving and process optimization, contributing significantly to the company's research and development initiatives.
Later on, Dr. Ali was awarded the prestigious Mitacs-Accelerate Postdoctoral Fellowship, a recognition of his ground-breaking work in Chemical Engineering. During this fellowship, he conducted cutting-edge research on the “Removal of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and Ozone (O3) from Gas Emissions”. This research addressed critical environmental challenges and highlighted Dr. Ali’s commitment to sustainable solutions.
Building on his fellowship experience, Dr. Ali joined the Ingenuity Laboratory at the University of Alberta’s Department of Chemical Engineering where he worked on the transformative “Artificial Photosynthesis” project, contributing to innovations at the intersection of chemical engineering and renewable energy.
Over a career spanning of two decades, he has demonstrated excellence in research, teaching, and student mentorship across Canada and internationally. His global perspective and multidisciplinary expertise make him a vital leader in promoting student well-being and fostering the development of future leaders aligned with the institute’s mission.

Dr. M.S. Aslam
Board member
Dr. M.S. Aslam is a seasoned professional with over 25 years of expertise in civil engineering, sustainable development, and academia. Holding a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and a postdoctoral fellowship from McGill University, Canada, he has contributed to academia, industry, and international consultancy. Dr. Aslam has collaborated with global organizations such as UNICEF, Adam Smith International, and GIZ, driving innovative solutions in climate resilience, water resource sustainability, and disaster management. His work has influenced over 20 sustainability-focused projects and helped train more than 2,000 engineers through professional development programs. A dedicated educator, he has held teaching and research positions at prestigious institutions, including McGill University and Conestoga College, while fostering university-industry partnerships and mentoring aspiring engineers. With over 20 peer-reviewed publications, a forthcoming book, and impactful contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Dr. Aslam exemplifies leadership in advancing sustainable engineering practices.

Dr. Nehar Ullah
Board member
Dr. Nehar Ullah is a distinguished researcher and educator with a PhD in Chemical Engineering from McGill University and over a two decade of experience in academia and industry. His expertise spans advanced material development, water treatment systems, process optimization, and sustainable engineering solutions. Dr. Ullah has published 37 peer-reviewed journal articles, multiple book chapters, holds a US provisional patent, and has received prestigious awards, including from NSERC. He is also a member of various prestigious professional societies worldwide, including AIChE, PiChE, and BES, reflecting his commitment to advancing the field of chemical engineering. Currently teaching at both public and private colleges in Canada, Dr. Ullah’s passion lies in mentoring students and conducting impactful research. He has worked on significant projects, including hydrogen production optimization, effluent treatment plant design, and superhydrophobic surface materials development.

Dr. Rabbi
Board member
Dr. Rabbi holds a PhD in Environmental Economics from leading university in Germany and has over 20 years of experience in teaching, applied research, administration, and development projects. His research focuses on climate change, sustainable livelihoods, resource utilization, technology adoption, and its impacts on farmers' income in developing countries. He is also an expert in socioeconomic surveys, data analysis, and visualization, as well as research methodology and development projects.
Dr. Rabbi has published over 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals and authored a book on the sustainable utilization of natural resources. He has designed social and economic surveys and data collection tools for both developing and developed countries, contributing significantly to the field. His expertise extends to the development of courses on data visualization and analytics, as well as data collection techniques.
With extensive experience teaching in both developed and developing countries, Dr. Rabbi has participated in training programs and workshops in the United States, Canada, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. He has also served as a policy advisor in stakeholder workshops, contributing to the development of policies on various development-related issues.
Dr. Rabbi currently serves as a member of our Board and Advisory Board, where his expertise in research and policy development continues to be a valuable asset.
